Caprice, a 38 foot cruising catamaran

Caprice was purchased in Australia, where she was built in 2007 by Seawind Yachts. Captain Dan and First Mate Carol sailed her across the Pacific Ocean in 2008 on a fantastic voyage that eventually landed them back in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their journey inspired them to share their knowledge and sailing experiences with those looking for new adventures… and Sailing Caprice was born! Caprice sails out of Brickyard Cove in historic Point Richmond and can introduce you to the waters and views all around the San Francisco Bay.  Because of its flawless design, Caprice does not heel, providing you with a smooth and comfortable sailing experience. Caprice is perfect for first timers and is easy to sail, so you can even take control of the wheel. Smooth sailing ensures you stay dry and allows you to walk around on board, experiencing scenic views from all angles. Caprice comfortably hosts parties of up to twelve, with plenty of seating for panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay Area. This spacious cruising catamaran yacht is well appointed with two private heads and showers, a full galley and an on-deck gas flattop grill. Bring your own food and beverages or enjoy our delicious catering options! Caprice also has full navigational electronics so you can learn to use instruments and how to sail yachts and cruising catamarans. Sailing Caprice is a perfect opportunity to practice before your sailing trips in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, or your next Mexico cruise. Caprice is a USCG inspected vessel, certified by the US Coast Guard to carry 12 passengers. Book your next adventure today! Our Skills:
  • Aboard Caprice, you can sit back and relax, learn how to sail or take the wheel.
  • Caprice doesn’t heel, which make her sail smoothly. First timers are amazed by the comfort!
  • Gorgeous, panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay.
  • Caprice has a warm, comfortable salon, where one can relax and enjoy the sites.
  • Full navigation electronics. Learn about instruments and how to handle cruising catamarans before your bare boat charter in the tropics or Mediterranean.

FAQ

  • Q: Is food provided?
A: Light snacks, soft drinks, coffee, tea, and bottled water are provided by Sailing Caprice. If you would like to bring your own food, you are more than welcome to do so. We even have a grill! If you’re interested in catered food, we are also partnered with a professional chef to provide you and your guests with many delicious, hassle-free catering options while sailing San Francisco Bay.
  • Q: What should I wear?
A: For your comfort, we recommend you wear layered clothing and soft soled shoes. San Francisco Bay is generally cool and windy in the summer and surprisingly, warmer and less windy in the winter. However, the temperatures can fluxuate by 20 degrees in a single day, so please prepare accordingly.
  • Q: What about seasickness?
  • A: Caprice is a 38’ cruising catamaran. As such, she heels (tips) only 3 – 5 degrees, which makes her one of the smoothest sailing options in the Bay Area. Seasickness is rare on a large cruising catamaran like Caprice. If you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking motion sickness medication an hour or two before boarding, just in case.
  • Q: Can children come aboard?
A: Absolutely! Sailing Caprice is a fun and adventurous experience for kids of all ages. Caprice is stocked with life jackets sized for young skippers, and is a great way to introduce your child to the wonders of the water.

Spring is in the air and Caprice has been outfitted with some new gear to make our trips even more enjoyable and safe. We also have a new catering menu which outlines some fabulous food selections. Although Captain Dan is teaching Cruising Catamaran Courses at least one weekend a month for Tradewinds Sailing School, there are still opportunities to select open days and, of course, almost any weekday for cruising. Many of our customers have returned for either additional instruction
